Life Ain’t Nuthin’ but Cheerios and Cheese B#tches!

Spent the weekend with my niece and nephews (Stella, Maximus & Deklan) – it was a blast, they are the coolest little people I know and constantly make me laugh.

Their actions and their excitement about the things they discover every single day well, it got me to thinking…They are just mad excited all the time. They are thriving every day. It’s cool to see, to just be around. So… I’m now asking myself, what excites me, what makes me thrive, what really drills on my smile from ear to ear, what makes me sweat (cause I do when I’m nervously excited haha), what makes me jump up and down or want to uncontrollably say ‘Hells yea!’… and when you think about it, we should ask ourselves that every day, ‘What excites me,’ Right? I mean wouldn’t you want those types of feelings when you wake up in the morning?

ImageAs for my nephew, Deklan, a solid 18 months old lil monkey man (also known to his brother and sister as Duckers), he really dig’s vanilla cupcakes with blue frosting and sprinkles, he digs all the new things he sees every day, he likes to be around laughter, he likes it when other people smile, he likes it when he can hear himself speak, he goes nuts when he thinks he can climb something he can’t…the list obviously goes on.

What’s funny though (besides the picture of him above) is that really, I’m. Just. Like. Him. I mean who doesn’t love blue cupcakes and surrounding yourself with funny people? Who doesn’t love the idea of climbing something you can’t and then doing it (physically or figuratively speaking)?

Just because we grow up, get real jobs, move through each phase of our life, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be going after that thing that excites us, whether it’s the blue cupcake, the next climb, wanting to be around great people, wanting to feel like those people appreciate you, right? But, maybe the hard part now is figuring out what exactly that ‘blue cupcake’ is for each of us.

Image… this is, as most of my posts are, a random thought, but thought it was a good one to write down. Which means, I’m working on my ‘excitement list,’ but that’s a stupid name…I’m going to call it a ‘Unicorn List’ …stay tuned for next time.

3 Principles in Life – Get to it!

Hey There!

Memorial Day and just about any holiday always gets me thinking…About the why, the why not, where am I in life, how is the mind, body and soul doing, etc. It never fails, landmarks come around, holidays happen or maybe even a Sunday passes and my mind goes wild with figuring out life.

I came to a realization of sorts after I came across this image on Pinterest, so take a look. Anyone who knows me, knows that THIS IS exactly how I do live my life and when I don’t, I feel off, weird, not right… These are 3 basic, but very powerful statements to live by, but I think only take a stab at understanding the very beginnings of your action and why one makes decisions, it doesn’t really cover the rest. However, making that first step, that leap, feeling and having the unwavering power to go after something, well that’s what these 3 guys (these 3 rules…hate rules) do for me. They are totally empowering and any time I need to be reoriented with who I am and what I’m all about, I check these out (usually before decision making time or something big in my life…I also workout like my life depended on it. Sweat and quotes are my world, how can I just write quotes (essentially inspire) and workout for a living? Ehhh anyways…maybe one day). Ok back to it, read the image, think about it and be about it. Let me know if you don’t feel more empowered to make something happen :).

Vision Board for 2012

Ello ello (english accent),

What is a vision board?

Vision Boards offer an opportunity to step out of time for a while–to ruminate, dream, create, and to spend time re-discovering you and what you are all about. Vision Boards help you to cement your goals. My goal is to create a Vision Board specifically describing me—my world as an author, athlete, eater, drinker, bushwacker, career person, planet dweller, dancer, runner, and everything else in between . The mantra in the movie, Field of Dreams, promised, “If you build it, they will come.” Some could say, “Build your Vision Board.  Success will come…”

Well maybe that’s too cheesy, but I thought it sounded like a good idea. And because I had a gazillion magazines that needed to be put to good use. So, I charged my team at work to do them with me. Now we ALL have vision boards and had an awesome time creating them.

Here were some of the things (well this one quote/mantra) I cut out of mags for my board (pic of board attached):

Set your sights.
Tap in.
Get Charged.
Sweat a little.
Be confident.
Be a confidant.
Have dessert.
Be sweet.
Be tenacious.
Push your limits.
Keep pace.
Keep running.
Keep chasing your dreams.

….Second favorite quote I found –
“It is the thunderbolt that steers all things.”

DAMMMMMMMMMMMMNNN Gina! – love it, that line makes me either want to watch Thor throw some thunder around, or go create my own :).

Ok, so what’s your vision? Where you wanna be? How/What do you want to attract into your life?

Laters –

Manifest what you DO want

Spring, March, BANG!

I am a woman in search of word…

Did some spring cleaning this past weekend and 5 trash bags later I heard something on TV, it was Eat, Pray, Love and honestly any movie about a woman taking charge of her life, I’m all about. It popped up when they were in a piazza ordering dinner while discussing the idea that every place/person has a word. Meaning, NYC’s word is ambition, Italy’s word was sex, and the main character’s word…well she couldn’t of one and basically figured that she was a woman in search of word. That’s where I’m at presently. I am a woman in search of a word.

I want to travel, be in love, see the world, be successful and maintain great relationships with family and friends. I know this might seem pretty easy, or not that outlandish, but in a nutshell, I want to suck the marrow out of life, be inspired, but also inspire, smile all the time, but stay balanced as well..

In any regard – I’m in search of word…

Maybe I have a couple of words… Maybe those are things that take time ti manifest themselves within you to resonate without doubt. Smile, Breathe, Yes, they’re simple (words) but they all sound right for me at the moment…

Good stuff – later gators 🙂

The Path is Not Straight

The Path is Not Straight…It’s more like some straight lines, some squiggles, curves, boulders, Harry Potter doors and lots of surprises. Am I right?

Run these words and phrases around in your head for a minute or two (I snagged these from a Marion Winik quote, thanks Marion!):

1. the path is not straight.
2. mistakes need not be fatal.
3. people are more important than achievements or possessions.
4. be gentle with your parents.
5. never stop doing what you care most about.
6. learn to use a semicolon.
7. you will find love.

I could quite honestly dissect each line you see above, but really, I’d have no idea where to even start. I saw this quote at Whole Foods one day, loved it so much that I bought the card (carrying the quote on the front cover) because it just made sense to me. They (the lines) were ways of  living and being about life. And, anyone who has lived through some stuff can understand these phrases.

When you read them, did one in particular bring a twinkle to your eye, a smirk to the corner of your mouth or did one actually take you back to a cool memory or two? That’s what I love about quotes and profound statements; just a few words and somehow you can totally relate.

The one that hit me the most, well there were two, were numbers 1 and 5. I think they go hand in hand really. “The path is not straight;” and, “never stop doing what you care most about.” To do what you care most about is usually never an easy thing to do nor is it the most obvious. So to me, you run into distraction. Things that pull you away either purposefully or inadvertently away from what you want most. And one’s strength comes from getting back to what you want most and sometimes getting back to it is never a straight line.

Doing what you care most feels amazing actually, and I’m sure we all can attest to that. I kind of like not always having a straight path – that’s life. There is no reason to go straight all the time, we learn from hitting the Harry Potter trap door, the curves and bends in the road or maybe just toeing the water on certain things. I’ve always been taught to roll with the punches, try everything at least once and follow your heart – and in doing that, I know darn well, that doesn’t always create a straight path.

Soooo – next time you are at Whole Foods and you see the card that makes you think, buy it, maybe give it to someone else and tell them you are giving it to them just because. Or – keep it for yourself and look back to it every once in a while.

I don’t know…just some ponderings on a Thursday morning 🙂

Let me know what you think…

Happy Summer

StumbleUpon: 50 of Life’s Secrets and Tips

StumbleUpon Love

I was playing around on StumbleUpon today and came across a contributor, Jordan Lejuwaan, and his ’50 Life Secrets and Tips’ post.  I love reading these types of posts because it allows me to see if I’m close to doing any of these secrets or life practices. Some are common sense and we all already know most of these, but the reminder is something I know I need. I lead a busy life, I pack it with lots of activities, events, friends, love, etc., so sometimes reading through a post like this puts things in perspective, it slows you down and re-centers your thoughts (whether you agree with what was written or not, it still helps you to take a step back and .. think).

Here are a few:

  1. Memorize something everyday. Not only will this leave your brain sharp and your memory functioning, you will also have a huge library of quotes to bust out at any moment. Poetry, sayings and philosophies are your best options.
  2. Constantly try to reduce your attachment to possessions. Those who are heavy set with material desires will have a lot of trouble when their things are taken away from them or lost. Possessions do end up owning you, not the other way around. Become a person of minimal needs and you will be much more content.
  3. Develop an endless curiosity about this world. Become an explorer and view the world as your jungle. Stop and observe all of the little things as completely unique events. Try new things. Get out of your comfort zone and try to experience as many different environments and sensations as possible. This world has so much to offer, so why not take advantage of it?
  4. Remember people’s names so that they feel appreciated and for your own future benefit when you want something from that person. To do this, say their name back to them when they introduce themselves. Then repeat the name in your head a number of times until you are sure you have it. Continue to use their name in conversation as much as possible to remove any chance of forgetting it. If you’re still having trouble, make up a rhyme about their name: “Dan the Man” or “Natalie flatters me.”
  5. Get fit! It’s ridiculous to think that we have one body, one sole means of functioning, and people are too lazy to take care of themselves. Fit bodies lead to better health, confidence and more success with romantic endeavors. I’d say those are 3 very good reasons to get in shape.
